4POG to Host Regimental Week
FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, Dec. 5, 2007) – The 4th Psychological Operations Group (Airborne) will host its first regimental week from Dec. 10-13, 2007, here.
The week-long event celebrates the unique richness of the PSYOP community’s commitment to excellence and showcase their contributions to the nation. Soldiers, veterans and family members will participate in a variety of competitive and professional activities.
4th POG(A) is the only active Army psychological operations unit and routinely deploys at a moment’s notice in order to plan, develop and conduct various psychological operations in any theater of command.

Zakia Zaki Memorial Dedication
A female Afghan government official who was assassinated
this past year will be remembered by the 8th PSYOP Battalion.
Soldiers who personally knew Ms. Zaki will be available for an
interview. A conference room will be dedicated in her name. |

Sgt. Charles B. Kitowski, III, , 31, of Farmers Branch, Texas, was one of three soldiers killed when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan on August 12, 2007.
He was a member of the 345th Psychological Operations Company, 2nd Psychological Operations Group, U.S. Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command.

Army Sergeant Thomas Edward Vandling, Jr., lost his life in Iraq on January 1, 2007, during his service to our country in Operation.
Vandling served with the 1113th Tactical Psychological Operations Team, 1110th Tactical Psychological Operations Detachment, 303rd Tactical Psychological Operations Company.
Sgt. Vandling was on his second tour of duty.
He was killed on New Year's Day while on combat patrol when an improvised explosive devise detonated near his vehicle near Babil Province in southwestern Baghdad. More

Sgt. Adam L. Knox, 21, died in Baghdad Tuesday, 17 September, 2006 when his patrol encountered enemy forces using small arms fire during combat operations, according to a news release issued by the Pentagon.
He was assigned to the Army Reserve 346th Psychological Operations Company based in Columbus, OH.

Staff Sgt. Michael Anthony Dickinson, 26,
died July 17, from wounds sustained while engaging enemies of the United States in Ar Ramadi, Iraq.
SSG Dickinson, of Battle Creek, Michigan, was assigned to the 9th Psychological Operations Battalion, 4th Psychological Operations Group. He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in December 2005.

Six weeks into his deployment, Army CPL George Anthony Lutz, II, of Chesapeake, VA, was killed by sniper fire in Iraq on 29 December 2005.
Lutz, 25, was killed Thursday when his patrol was attacked by small arms fire in Fallujah. He was assigned to the Army's 9th Psychological Operations Battalion, 4th Psychological Operations Group, at Fort Bragg, N.C.

SPC Joseph A. Jeffries, 21, of Beaverton, Oregon, died 29 May 2004, in Kandahar, Afghanistan, when his vehicle hit a land mine. He and three Special forces soldiers died in the explosion.
PFC Jeffries
was assigned to the Army Reserve's 320th Psychological Operations Company, Portland, Oregon.

Staff Sgt. Michael G. Owen, 31, of Fayetteville, N.C., and Cpl. Jonathan J. Santos, 22, of Bellingham, Wash., were fatally wounded on 15 October 2004 while conducting vehicle-mounted loudspeaker operations with the 1st Marine Division in Karabilah, Iraq.
Both men were assigned to the 9th Psychological Operations Battalion, 4th Psychological Operations Group (Airborne) at Fort Bragg, N.C. More

LTC Charles H. "Chad" Buehring, killed Sunday, 26 Oct 2003, in a rocket attack on the Al Rasheed Hotel, Baghdad, Iraq.
Buehring was assigned to the U.S. Army's Central Command as the senior psychological-operations officer in Iraq.
