Position Overview
- The Systems Engineer will provide technical engineering support for all production systems used by Psyop teams including artist workstations as well as support staff
- Understanding of animation and VFX production with previous experience in configuring, deploying, and maintaining typical applications used within Psyop’s industry space (Maya, Nuke, Flame, etc) is desirable
- Will be partly responsible for all Psyop’s technology infrastructure and shared services, including data centers, cloud environments (AWS), physical and virtual servers, storage, remote work setup, etc
- Will support the day-to-day functionality of technical operations of the studio as a whole
- Will work with production teams to ensure all technical requirements for projects are met
- Will be working mostly in-office (CDMX), but some possibility of remote work
- Will report to Lead Systems Engineer
Responsibilities
Will include but are not limited to:
- Quickly analyze and find creative solutions for software, hardware, and systems problems involving Psyop artists and developers
- Enhance, modify or redesign systems to accommodate the ever-changing requirements of production
- Production support via Slack, Jira, phone, email, and in-person.
- Monitor critical systems and deal with technical issues
- Collaborate continually with Artists and Technical Directors to come up with creative solutions to difficult technical problems
- Manage network and storage configurations to ensure optimal Psyop operations
- Back end server management and deployment tools
Experience
- Prior experience or interest in Pipeline processes including but not limited to; asset management, render farm, etc
- Strong working knowledge in commercial graphic packages, including Maya, Nuke, Flame, and Photoshop
- Previous experience within a technical systems team dealing with various graphics workstations and video is desired
- Excellent communication and project management skills
- Able to anticipate production challenges and problem solve
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have an understanding of or the willingness to quickly learn;
- Legal permission to work in Mexico
- Fluent English communication skills
- AWS Cloud Environments
- Teridici remote desktop systems
- Ability to manage Autodesk Flame systems is preferred but not required
- Multi-platform management and integration (Linux/Mac/Windows)
- Knowledge of digital video standards and codecs as well as monitor calibration
- Scripting skills (shell/PHP/Perl/Python…etc) are preferred, knowledge of configuration management and DevOps is a plus
- Experience with Application deployment, especially standard DCC applications
- Extensive LAN and WAN networking knowledge (Routing/Switching/Firewalls/etc)
